We had an uneventful trip to Europe and I LOVE flying with Mr. Elite Status Chiles----just allows you to get bumped right through security in quick order and not have to wait in all of the long lines and go through all the non-seasoned travelers. We packed very well for this trip---I was well under the 50 pound limit for my suitcase so you know what that means!!! I can buy stuff to bring back !!! We shall see how that works. We had good seats---left Minneapolis on time and got into Amsterdam a few minutes early. I watched 4 movies on the plane---it was just a weird time for sleeping and I couldn’t fall asleep anyway so at least there were a couple of movies I had not seen before that were offered.

We had about 3 hours in the Amsterdam airport waiting for our short flight to Geneva . I read, Chris napped and we boarded our flight on time and had a good flight to Geneva. Once there we got our rental car---not quite what we had reserved but it all worked out okay. We have an Opal of some kind----all I know is that it works!!! From the airport we headed to Chambery, France-----first we had to get the guy to show us how to get the navigational system set to English! After that and a lot of wrong turns we made it out of Geneva and on the way. We arrived at our hotel----well actually a chateau! We stayed at the Chateau de Candie and had a nice room there. According to the guide book “this fortress was erected on the ruins of the erstwhile building on an religious order, has been watching over a huge valley.” All I know is that I was really tired after not having any sleep for a long time so we checked in, took a nap and then went out in search of food. Of course since it was Sunday night there was absolutely nothing open and we ended up at ---you guessed it---a Mcdonald’s. Big Mac meal is a universally understood language. Thank goodness. We crashed and got a little bit caught up on our sleep. Off for a new adventure on Day 2!
