Scenic Iowa

We tried to do a little get away to Butler County today to see these quilts that are on the sides of barns but the weather did not cooperate at all. It was gross and rainy and we saw several and decided to call it quits on the whole barn tour----it was miserable and by the time we found the barns we were past them so it is definitely a trip for another day!!! I really wanted to see them all---I think there are about 25 of them but they aren't really marked so you have to just kind of figure out which barn it is while you are driving. But it was good to get out of Mason City and do something different for a change and we will go back and do this some day but it was not to be today! We did see some pretty neat barns and homesteads---just couldn't photograph a lot of them. But at least here are a couple to look at!!!

well the pictures you were able to get are good!! I wanted to do that with the Harrison County ones, too, get a picture of them all--but, it is not to be...

Monroe county has them too and ours are all marked and there is a map so you can do a self guided tour. They really are neat. Maybe someday you can see ours.

Well I just need to go back when it is not raining and gloomy! And I have found a lot of counties in the midwest have similar thing so maybe I can just do a midwest barn tour in my spare time!
